Another image from my holidays illustration frenzy... I actually realised that I had never done any portraits before... so this image was done to see if I could pull off a portrait from scratch. The other constraint was that the final character had to be recognisable.

I used a very well know picture of an actress as visual reference for my starting sketch... I then painted the whole thing in photoshop in a bit under 8 hours (I try to give myself a 6-8 hours time limit to mimic a normal work day)... The medusa theme is there so that I didn't concentrate on simply reproducing the original image but rather have fun making my own stuff.
